Art Explorers

Thursday 10:15-11:15 18 months-4 yrs

$20 per class or $225 for 12 weeks - no class Feb 23

As a continuation of our toddler arts program, kids will have a chance to interact more with their peers and the instructor, and, as their attention span grows and ability to focus improves, they will spend a longer time working on their projects, and have the opportunity to work on an additional free form art project if they desire. Playdough, toys, books and puzzles will be brought out at the end of class, and children will be encouraged to work on their art projects before beginning to play.

Saturday Morning Family Arts:

Saturday 9:45-10:45 16 months-5 years

$20 per class or $225 for 12 weeks- no class Feb 25

Children and their parent/caregiver will work together in this mixed age class, learning and developing basic art skills such as painting, collage, and printmaking. Seasonal themes and nature crafts using vintage fabrics and patterned papers are emphasized. Adults will enjoy these projects as much as the kids! Children move between 3 stations at their own pace, and handmade playdough, toys, books, and puzzles will also be available. Our cozy studio is a great place for your child to get messy, have fun, and make a new best friend!

Artists on Our Own: 3 yr olds playgroup

Monday and/or Wednesday 9-12 2.5-3.5 yrs at start date *parents may stay or drop off kids once they are comfortable- but we require parents to stay for at least the first class.

Projects will focus on exploration of materials and actions as well as crafting and construction. Children at this age are very imaginative and revel in activities that advance their fine motor skills. We want to create opportunities for the kids to investigate, collaborate, and have fun! Class time will consist of 3 art projects, snack, free play, songs, games, and stories. Joining this group requires a full commitment to the session as we want to create a continuous and intimate social environment. This is a drop off class, though parents may choose to stay as children transition.

NYC Museum and Gallery Arts for Homeschoolers

Thursday 11:45-1:45 4-10 yrs

$40 per class or $440 for 12 weeks- no class Feb 23

Students will create artwork inspired by the work of artists currently on display at different museums and galleries around the city. Each week images will be looked at and discussed as various techniques and approaches are demonstrated. Students will gain knowledge of different genres and time periods in the history of art. Families may supplement the course with field trips to the many amazing NYC museums and galleries on their own time.

Whether you're staying home or visiting relatives this Thanksgiving, this is the perfect opportunity for your child to create fantastic one of a kind decorations to make your holiday table setting unique. Using fabric and paper leaves, feathers, bark, glitter, ribbon, sequins, and more, they can choose to make leaf mobiles to hang on the door or chairs, napkin rings, a spectacular centerpiece, or anything they can imagine.

Joining this group requires a full commitment to the session as we want to create a continuous and intimate social environment. This is a drop off class, though parents may choose to stay as children transition. We require that parents or caretakers stay for at least the first class while the child becomes familiar with the space, teachers, and other students.

Class descriptions:

18 months-3 years art class: Classes will focus on the parent/caregiver and child experimenting with new techniques and materials while creating beautiful one of a kind works of art to bring home. Children will begin to master simple processes such as pai
nting, gluing, and cutting which will help them gain confidence as they learn to become more and more creative and independent. Projects will vary week to week but will be seasonally based and will include painting, collage, printmaking, and cut paper crafts.

12-24 months art class: A simplified version of the older toddler art class, this class will provide a basic familiarity with materials and processes which the child will carry forward as they move to the next level.

All ages drop in painting: A fun messy time to experiment with lots of paint and different methods of applying it.

All ages drop in crafts and painting: A laid back drop in class for anyone looking for a nice way to spend the afternoon. Projects for all ages will be available, and will be the same or similar to projects from the toddler art classes.

I'm happy to announce that The Painted Cloud will have a new permanent home beginning June 1st at 168 Marcy Ave between S.5th and Broadway, in Williamsburg. It's a beautiful space with a lovely deck out back, and will be a cozy and comfortable place to hang out and make art.
Toddler art classes will be held most mornings and the space will also be available for birthday parties and other events. Special Saturday workshops will be held every other weekend throughout the summer. Sunday and Thursday afternoons will be an all ages paint party, with music and lots of painting. Please check back for the finalized schedule.

Spring session begins April 17th

The painted cloud is now offering toddler art classes 3 days a week! Thursday and Friday mornings from 10-11, as well as a new 2 hour drop in class on Monday mornings from 9:30-11:30 (you can come at any time during the 2 hour period and stay as long as you like).
Classes focus on allowing the child and parent/caregiver to experiment with different materials and techniques while creating beautiful and unique projects to bring home. Projects will vary from week to week, but will generally be seasonally themed, and will include a mix of guided craft projects and free-form painting, drawing, and collage. Playdough, puzzles, and books will wrap up each class.
The Spring session runs 10 weeks and the cost is $185, or $20 per class to drop-in. Siblings under 18 months are free, siblings over 18 months will be charged 1/2 price. The painted cloud is located at 241 Bedford Avenue, #7, between N.3rd and N.4th streets, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Please note that an adult must stay with the child during the class. The Painted Cloud will start up again on January 18th with Monday and Friday morning classes for toddlers. Class times will remain the same, 10:15 -11:15 am. The fall session was a great success and lots of fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting new families. We will be making some great winter themed projects, as well as experimenting with free form painting, drawing, collage, and playdough.
